The Wellington Quarry, the Canadian National Vimy Memorial and Arras 'Marché de Noël' were the 3 destinations on the Year 6 day trip to France last week. The first two stops gave the children an incredible insight into the lives of Allied troops during the First World War and then the children practised their French speaking to the friendly stallholders in the Christmas market in Arras as they bought gifts and sweet treats. In Design and Technology, children in Year 3 worked in pairs to design and make a catapult as they are learning about different types of levers. They used the school corridor to see whose catapult could send the paper balls the furthest. The children worked incredibly well together with their partners and we were very impressed with how far they could launch the paper. We had a visit from the wonderful Steve Gurnett last week who wowed the children in Collective Worship with his disappearing dice trick. Year 3 recently conducted market research on chocolate bars and sweets in preparation for creating their very own Wonka-inspired chocolate bar! From their findings, the #oreo chocolate bar emerged as the most popular choice in one class.
